Raventós i Blanc an Invited Winery
Today I have been attending a fantastic and unique tasting in New York City: Terry Theise Selection and Europvin Selection together by the hand of Michael Skurnik Wines.´
The event has taken place in the City Winery in Tribeca. The first winery ever existed in Manhattan where people from all around New York Estate can make their own wine from their own vineyards: A new and unique concept of winery.
More than 50 wineries, with the best Rieslings of the world, best grower Champagne, Spanish wines, Bordeaux and Raventos I Blanc. As for mention some: Donhoff, Leitz, Hexamer, Clos Mogador, Vega Sicilia, Bodegas Mauro, Lustau, Domaine St Gayan..
We have enjoyed many fabulous wines, find some very good friends from Spain and from all around the world: Heral Hexamer from Nahe, Rene Barbier from Priorat, Antoine Graillot from Cotes du Rhone, Johanes Selbachs from Selbach, and many many others.
More than five hours tasting and more than 300 people came today to the City Winery.
Our still wine Silencis vintages 2010 and 2011; has been presented in the Skurnik Portfolio during this tasting. A 100% Xarel·lo wine, from old vineyards, east face parcels, and very special soils; with all the complexity that this autochthonous grape gives to the wines and its aging potential.
About the wines I have tasted, I really enjoyed were: Crozes Hermitage vintage 2010, from Alain Graillot: very pure, straight forward, elegant syrah as he ever gets; Eiswein Hexamer 2010: that was a baby; Terreus 2001 very cold unusual vintage from Bodegas Mauro, that is showing a great balance.
Cheers to everybody and let’s keep on working!
