JoinThe solidarity wine Ciutat Nua, a project beyond the walls of Can Brians
CIUTAT NUA, the wine, represents the stone to a project that aspires to be more, wants to go a step further and one day become a project shared with Can Brians: a useful project beyond the walls of Can Brians. We believe that through wine we can give joy and illusion and training.
2024
Vintage of hope and recovery of life on the Estate.
Rainfall during the cycle was 432mm (30-year average 515mm) and the average annual temperature was 16.5ºC due to hightemperatures in autumn and winter (30-year average 15.2ºC). Extremely dry and warm autumn and winter. Very wet, hopeful andlong spring. Typical mild summer with no major heat waves. Patient ripening and low yielding, balanced, healthy and complex grapes.
Hopeful harvest for the recovery of our vines. Slow ripening and low production with very healthy grapes. Sumoll has been the queen variety, with a very good balance of alcohol content and acidity.
100% pure Xarel·lo. Natural Mediterranean wine.
The variety that best represents the Penedés, that best shows our terroir, a shy variety with many aromatic nuances that surprise with time. Vinified without intervention, without aging, it gives us the most sincere expression of the variety. Notes of aromatic Mediterranean plants, aniseed, fruits and white flowers; in the mouth it is structured, glyceric, fresh and with a characteristic bitter touch.
Our cultivation is 100% organic and biodynamic.
The Llac vineyard was planted in 1984 in goblet on deep calcareous clay loam soils. The vines are kept in vegetable covers in autumn, winter and spring to be mowed or incorporated at the end of spring. Fertilization with animal compost. Control of fungi with copper, sulfur and phytotherapy. Sexual confusion treatment for grape moth. Berry control and ripening controls prior to harvest. Manual harvesting and pressing in the winery.
Manual harvest and low pressure pressing. Static racking. Alcoholic fermentation with indigenous yeasts from the vineyard at controlled temperature. No oenological additives. Sulphited at bottling.
We are looking for the maximum expression of the terroir.
